The No. 7 Textile Factory Branch in Wundwin of Mandalay Region is preparing to resume production after its buildings were damaged by the Mandalay earthquake. Machinery and related equipment have been recovered and relocated for installation. Union Minister for Industry and MSME Development Dr. Charlie Than, accompanied by Deputy Minister U Thwin Aung, inspected the factory’s recovery work on Saturday. The Union Minister instructed officials to complete the installation and adjustment of relocated weaving machines as soon as possible and prepare sufficient raw materials for production. He also called for plans to be prepared for rebuilding the factory and restoring machinery, while ensuring systematic recovery works to minimize further damage to equipment. The Union Minister later visited the No. 7 Textile Factory in Myittha, and met with factory managers and staff from the Kyaukse Industrial Zone. He called for state-owned factories to operate at full capacity, increase production and profits, and maintain sufficient raw materials and spare parts. He also stressed the importance of developing the MSME sector, promoting domestic production, increasing exports and producing goods import substitutions. He urged officials to support cotton farmers and produce value-added cotton products based on market demand. In the afternoon, the Union Minister inspected the No. 8 Textile Factory Branch in Yamethin and gave instructions to increase production, complete government orders on time and operate machinery at full capacity.
