Vietnam National Assembly to Review Key Legislation in New Session

Vietnam's National Assembly is set to convene an extraordinary session of the 16th term on August 2nd. The session will focus on deliberating key legislation crucial for the reform of the state apparatus and the advancement of socio-economic development. Ahead of the National Assembly meeting, Chairman Tran Thanh Man, a Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Committee of the National Assembly, presided over a meeting with heads of National Assembly delegations and Party cell leaders. During this meeting, he stressed the importance of ensuring that laws become effective immediately upon their enactment. Chairman Man stated that the upcoming session will involve a substantial workload, addressing numerous agenda items of fundamental significance for perfecting the institutional framework, fostering socio-economic development, and organizing the state apparatus. He noted that a majority of the major policies have already received input from the Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat. Vietnam, operating under a one-party system, has consistently prioritized economic growth. The nation endeavors to propel socio-economic development through continuous improvements in its legal system. In recent years, particularly in response to evolving global dynamics such as the intricate relationship with China and the restructuring of global supply chains, the timely and precise refinement of domestic legal frameworks has become increasingly critical. The legislative reviews undertaken during this National Assembly session are thus anticipated to carry considerable weight in shaping Vietnam's domestic policy direction and its broader interactions on the international stage.
