President Prabowo Receives Proposals for National Honors from Culture Minister

President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia met with Culture Minister Fadli Zon at his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. During the meeting, Minister Fadli Zon submitted a list of proposed recipients for national honors and decorations, which had been recommended by various ministries and the public. According to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Minister Fadli Zon, in his capacity as Chairman of the Council of Titles, Honors, and Decorations, reported on the proposals received from ministries and the public. These reports will serve as considerations for President Prabowo in granting national honors and decorations. Teddy assured that the awarding of these honors would comply with existing laws and regulations. National honors and decorations are bestowed upon individuals deemed to have made significant contributions to the nation and its people. The Head of State typically awards these honors annually in commemoration of Indonesia's Independence Day (HUT RI). Teddy explained, "The proposals relate to the awarding of titles, honors, and decorations to several prominent figures and members of the public who are considered to have provided exceptional services, contributions, and benefits to society, the nation, and the state, and possess a commendable record of service that deserves recognition and serves as a role model for the community." Previously, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi had stated that the list of recipients for national honors and decorations was currently in the finalization stage. He noted that this year's recipients would be highly diverse, comprising individuals from various sectors. Minister Prasetyo hinted that individuals in the technology sector with internationally recognized patents, as well as some ministers from the "Red and White Cabinet" (Kabinet Merah Putih), might also receive state honors due to their meritorious achievements.
