Emergency rescue operations carried out in Khamaukgyi Township due to mountain water runoff

It has been reported that emergency rescue operations were carried out in Khamaukgyi Township, Tanintharyi Region, due to mountain water runoff. It has been reported that on the night of September 17, heavy rainfall in Khamaukgyi Township, Myeik District, Tanintharyi Region, caused mountain water to flow, leading to a rise in the water level of the Khamaukgyi River and flooding in Ward 1. Local residents stated that houses were submerged due to the mountain water runoff, and parts of the Yangon-Myeik-Mawlamyine Union Highway were also flooded. It has been reported that military personnel, police forces, fire brigades, social assistance and charity organizations, and local residents are cooperating to open temporary rescue camps, relocate those affected to safe areas, transport food supplies, and carry out emergency rescue operations for the flood victims. It has been reported that due to the mountain water runoff, approximately 200 feet of the Bote-Pyin-Mawlamyine Union Highway is submerged, and route markers have been installed to ensure safe passage for vehicles, while the water flow situation is being monitored and necessary rescue operations are continuing.
