Hanoi Metro Line 5's Underground Section Construction Begins

Construction has officially begun on the underground section of Hanoi's Metro Line 5 (Van Cao - Hoa Lac), with the initial diaphragm wall construction at S3 Station (Ring Road 1). The Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board (MRB) and the EPC contractor consortium have initiated the construction of the first diaphragm wall at S3 Station. This project is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening Hanoi's urban transportation network and promoting urban development. Specifically, traffic restrictions have been implemented along Van Cao street for the underground station construction, with adjustments being made to expedite the progress. Urban railway construction in Vietnam is one of the government's priorities, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion caused by rapid economic growth and urbanization, and to build a sustainable urban transportation system. Hanoi Metro Line 5 is positioned as a "lifeline" connecting the capital's strategic development vision with the expectations of its residents. In the past, there have been instances of tunnel excavation, such as the completion of 4km of underground tunnel for Line 3 (Nhon - Hanoi Station), with TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) operations underway. These infrastructure investments are seen as contributing to further revitalization of the Vietnamese economy and improving the quality of life for its citizens.
