Philippines Proposes Gradual Pork Tariff Hike to Protect Local Producers

The Philippines' Department of Agriculture (DA) is proposing a gradual increase in import duties on pork, citing a decline in farmgate prices for local hogs. The move aims to protect domestic producers while preventing market shocks. Initial plans involve raising tariffs from the current 15% in-quota and 25% out-quota rates to 25% and 35% respectively.
