Vietnam Braces for Heavy Rains Nationwide, Meteorologists Issue Warnings

This week, Vietnam is expected to experience heavy rainfall across both the northern and southern regions. The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has issued warnings for severe weather, including localized heavy downpours, thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds, particularly for the northern and central parts of the country. Northern Vietnam is forecast to receive moderate to very heavy rain from the night of August 3rd to August 7th, with a subsequent trend of decreasing rainfall. For central Vietnam, areas from Nghe An to Hue and the South Central Coast will see sunny days, with some areas experiencing heat. However, scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon and evening. The Central Highlands and the South will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some areas receiving heavy rain in the afternoons of August 4th and 5th. During these thunderstorms, there is a possibility of encountering phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning strikes, hail, and strong gusts of wind. Experts have also noted that while lightning striking a lake is a rare occurrence, it is not entirely impossible. Vietnam has been experiencing an increasing frequency and intensity of extreme weather events in recent years, partly attributed to climate change.
