Teen Steals Police Father’s Gun, Opens Fire at School in Northern Thailand
A 15-year-old boy in Kamphaeng Phet Province, northern Thailand, stole his police father's gun and opened fire at his school after being suspended and suffering from depression. Fortunately, no one was injured, and the school's safety training proved effective. The minor suspect was apprehended and his privacy is being protected.
A 15-year-old student caused massive panic at a local high school in northern Thailand’s Kamphaeng Phet Province. He stole a loaded gun from his police father and fired several shots on campus. Fortunately, no one was hurt during this terrifying school shooting event in Kamphaeng Phet Province. The teenage boy was very upset after the local school suspended him for two weeks. He was also undergoing medical treatment for severe depression at that exact time. Local police officials say the troubled boy walked into the school seeking a specific teacher. The armed teenager fired a total of six shots across the sprawling school grounds. He started shooting near the front gate and slowly walked toward the main classrooms. He was actively hunting for a certain teacher he blamed for his recent school suspension. The loud sound of gunfire sent frightened students and teachers running quickly for safety. The school had recently trained everyone on the highly effective “Run, Hide, Fight” safety method. This smart preparation helped keep everyone perfectly safe until local police officers finally arrived on scene. According to police, the young boy lacked basic weapon skills. Most of his wild shots simply went up into the air or completely missed the crowds. He only caused very minor damage to school property before brave police officers easily stopped him. Police quickly detained the young suspect and had him do a standard crime scene reenactment. He appeared surprisingly calm and wore a dark helmet to hide his young teenage face. Because the boy is a minor, the police must protect his personal privacy very carefully. The teenager’s older brother rushed straight to the school to follow the scary emergency situation. He told local reporters that his younger brother spent plenty of time playing video games. However, he strongly begged the general public not to blame video games for this violent act. The older brother expressed deep sadness and offered a very sincere apology for his struggling family. He openly blamed himself for not spending enough time teaching and guiding his younger sibling properly. He also noted that the young boy rarely talked about his own painful personal life problems. School leaders quickly announced a complete stop to all normal in-person classes for the week. Students will stay home and learn online for at least the next two full days. This short mental break gives absolutely everyone enough time to calm down and feel safe again. Teachers are working closely with worried parents to support the mental health of all young students. The school promised to improve overall security measures before opening the campus doors again next week. They want parents to feel completely confident that their growing children will be well protected at all times. This frightening local event highlights the urgent global need for better student mental health support systems. Schools must pay closer attention to quiet students who struggle with deep sadness or hidden anger. Working closely with loving families can help prevent similar violent situations in the very near future. Source: Chiang Rai Times
