Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung will attend the 18th BRICS Summit in India at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The visit aims to deepen relations between Vietnam and India, as well as with BRICS member and partner countries.
Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, leading a high-level Vietnamese government delegation, will attend the 18th Summit of the Group of the New Emerging Economies (BRICS) in India from September 12-13, 2026, at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This visit is an opportunity to further deepen bilateral relations between Vietnam and India, as well as to strengthen cooperation with BRICS member and partner countries. BRICS is positioned as an important cooperation mechanism amidst the growing influence of emerging economies in the global economy. In recent years, Vietnam has achieved steady economic growth under its one-party system and is expanding its role in the international community. Particularly concerning relations with China, while economic ties are strong, tensions also exist over issues such as the South China Sea. In this context, participation in multilateral forums like BRICS becomes a crucial strategy for Vietnam to enhance its voice in the international arena and pursue its national interests. India has indicated an increase in security measures for the BRICS Summit, making it a meeting of significant international attention. Source: Nhan Dan
