Prabowo Orders Thorough Investigation into KM Virgo Accident to Enhance Mitigation

President Prabowo Subianto has assured that the KM Virgo Transport 8 accident will be thoroughly investigated to determine its cause. The findings from this investigation will serve as crucial material for improving mitigation steps to prevent similar incidents in the future. Prabowo made these remarks on Wednesday, September 16, before inaugurating the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai Light Rail Transit (LRT) in Jakarta. "We will continue to investigate, investigate what the cause of the incident is so that in the future we can better mitigate and take the best steps," Prabowo stated. He also conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims of the ship accident. Prabowo also touched upon the numerous disasters and calamities Indonesia is currently facing across various regions, emphasizing the necessity for collaboration between the central government, local governments, and relevant agencies to address the situation. The joint SAR (Search and Rescue) team is currently continuing its search operation for the victims of the KM Virgo Transport 8. According to the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the search pattern is being adjusted based on field conditions and weather. The Indonesian National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is also analyzing sea conditions at the time the ship lost contact, including waves, tides, and currents.
