Woman Drives at High Speed, Car Rolls Multiple Times at Phnom Penh Rotary

In the early hours of September 16, 2026, a serious traffic accident occurred at a rotary along Vimean Cheat Cheat Street in the Chong Prek Ta Sek area of Phnom Penh, involving a female driver. Around 12:40 AM, a white Mazda sedan (license plate: Phnom Penh 2CB-6347), driven by a woman, was traveling from west to east at an estimated speed exceeding 100 kilometers per hour when it crashed into the rotary. According to witnesses, the vehicle first collided with the rotary, flipping over once. Still at high speed, it then hit the curb, rolling over a second time, before crashing into a nearby vacant lot and rolling a third time. The female driver was seen crawling out of the overturned vehicle with multiple serious injuries. She was subsequently taken to the hospital by acquaintances. The rotary where the accident occurred is known among local residents as a 'black spot' for accidents, and this is reportedly not the first incident at this location. Residents are urging all drivers, regardless of gender, to operate their vehicles responsibly and with extreme caution. Following the accident, local authorities contacted traffic police. An on-site investigation was conducted, and the damaged vehicle was towed to the Traffic Office of the Phnom Penh Municipal Police headquarters.
