Cambodian Deputy PM Meets German Ambassador, Discusses Deeper Cooperation

On the morning of July 29, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Prak Sokhonn, received a courtesy call from H.E. Stefan MESSERER, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Kingdom of Cambodia, who has successfully concluded his diplomatic mission in Cambodia. Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn commended Ambassador Stefan Messer for his diligent efforts in further deepening the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the two countries for the mutual benefit and prosperity of their peoples. He also affirmed Cambodia's readiness to provide support to the new German Ambassador to continue strengthening bilateral relations and elevating the partnership between the two countries to a higher level. The two sides discussed bilateral cooperation in priority areas including trade and investment, education, agriculture, agro-industry, energy, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, particularly the high-level mutual visits that have been achieved during the Ambassador's tenure. Furthermore, the two sides exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern, emphasizing the necessity of adhering to international law and the use of diplomatic methods for the peaceful settlement of disputes. Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn also briefed the Ambassador on the latest developments concerning the Cambodia-Thailand border issue.
