Cambodia Braces for Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds Over Weekend Due to Tropical Depression Influence

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has announced that Cambodia is expected to experience thunderstorms and gusty winds across the country from September 20 to 22. This is due to the influence of Tropical Depression 'Dujuan' (T2625), which is affecting the southwest monsoon blowing over the Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea, South China Sea, Mekong River basin, Cambodian Sea, and the Kingdom of Cambodia. However, Cambodia is not directly in the path of Tropical Depression 'Dujuan'. This weather pattern is expected to impact several regions within the country. In the plains, temperatures will range from a minimum of 25°C to a maximum of 33°C, with winds blowing from the southwest and southeast at an average speed of 3 meters per second. Thunderstorms and gusty winds are anticipated to cover approximately 50% of the land area in provinces such as Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Pursat, Kampong Chhnang, Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, Kampong Cham, Tboung Khmum, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Takeo, Kandal, and Phnom Penh capital. In the highlands, temperatures will range from a minimum of 24°C to a maximum of 31°C, with winds blowing from the southwest and west at an average speed of 5 meters per second. Approximately 70% of the land area in provinces like Kampong Speu, Pailin, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kratie, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, the Dangrek mountain range, and the Cardamom mountains are expected to experience thunderstorms and gusty winds. Along the coast, temperatures will range from a minimum of 25°C to a maximum of 34°C, with winds blowing from the southwest and southeast at an average speed of 3 meters per second. Approximately 30% of the land area in provinces such as Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Kep, and the Bokor mountain range are expected to experience thunderstorms and gusty winds.
