Motorcycle Daredevils Apprehended in Svay Rieng Following Public Tip-off

In Svay Rieng Province, Cambodia, police have apprehended two young individuals for engaging in dangerous motorcycle stunts, acting on a tip-off received through social media. The operation was conducted under the guidance of Major General Pich Vira, Provincial Police Commissioner. On September 7, 2026, at approximately 5:20 PM, the authorities received information via a Facebook account named "Seng Socheat." The post included a video of youths performing reckless motorcycle stunts, accompanied by a message stating, "In Swai Rieng City, on the concrete road in Rung Bancheay village, Swai Rieng commune, a group of delinquent youths are doing motorcycle stunts on the concrete road (about 50 meters opposite the building material store). As per the request of the citizens, please help to prevent all illegal activities…." Upon receiving this report, Colonel Saom Sophon, Chief of the Swai Rieng City Police Inspectorate, led his forces to the scene. They apprehended two young individuals: 1) Sim Chaiya, male, 15 years old, with no specified occupation, residing in Ta Sang village, Kampong Chamlong commune, Svay Chrom district, Svay Rieng province (the one performing the stunts), and 2) Chu Devin (alias "Nhanh"), male, 16 years old, with no specified occupation, residing in Andoung Ta Sei village, Prey Chhlat commune, Swai Rieng city, Svay Rieng province (the one riding pillion). They also seized one motorcycle, a 2012 SUZUKI NEX, white and blue, with license plate Phnom Penh 1KH-2081. Both individuals were brought to the Swai Rieng City Police Inspectorate for questioning. They admitted to performing motorcycle stunts on the concrete road in Rung Bancheay village, Swai Rieng commune, Swai Rieng city, Svay Rieng province. Following their statements and with the agreement of the Provincial Police Commissioner and the Provincial Court Prosecutor, the police conducted a contract and educational session. They were instructed to cease dangerous motorcycle stunts and any activities that negatively impact social security and order. Their guardians were summoned to provide assurances and to ensure further guidance at home.
