Flooding has occurred in some townships in Yangon Region due to heavy rainfall, according to residents living in several townships within the region. The heavy rainfall began on the night of July 28 and continued until the morning of Waso Full Moon Day (July 29). "It has been raining since last night, and the water level has been gradually rising. Around 2 AM, even the beds were submerged. By this afternoon, the water has receded a bit, and the rain has stopped. Some people are distributing packed lunches," said a resident of Insein Township. It is known that flooding has occurred in areas such as Insein, Shwepyitha, North Dagon, Dagon East, Mayangon, South Okkalapa, and Tamwe Junction within Yangon Region due to heavy rainfall. "Flooding is occurring in Innpauk Village, Ward 24, Shwepyitha, so Shwepyitha's charitable organizations have joined forces to carry out rescue operations," stated an official from a charitable organization in Shwepyitha on social media. It is reported that in some areas where flooding occurred, the water has begun to recede as the rainfall stopped in the evening. According to the announcement from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, as of the evening of July 29, there was a 100% chance of localized heavy rainfall in Yangon Region, as well as in Bago Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Tanintharyi Region, Kayin State, Chin State, Mon State, Rakhine State, and Shan State (Eastern). Furthermore, the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology forecasts that scattered to widespread thunderstorms may occur in Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Magway Region, and Kayah State.
