The cases are in connection to June 8 the drowning of student athletes Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili in Aurora. The referral specifically covers the Business Permits and Licensing Office officer, the Municipal Tourism and Cultural Development officer and the head of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, according to the NBI. In a separate statement, Ateneo de Manila University said it would refrain from commenting on matters related to the incident while the case is pending. "As we have consistently stated, the University will continue to respect the ongoing process, refrain from commenting on matters now before the proper authorities to preserve the integrity of those proceedings, and fully cooperate with all lawful investigations," the university said.
