Drug Crackdown in Northern Cambodia: Man Arrested, 48 Packs of Meth, 19 Yaba Pills Seized

In the Trapaing Prasat district of Oddar Meanchey province, northern Cambodia, anti-drug forces have arrested one man suspected of illegal drug trafficking, possession, and use. According to local police, the suspect has been identified as Pol Tan, a 40-year-old male residing in Tram Chan village, Preah Pralay commune. His occupation is listed as uncertain. During the operation, authorities confiscated 48 packs of methamphetamine (ICE), including three large packs and 45 small ones, along with 19 pink Yaba (WY) pills. Several drug paraphernalia and packaging materials were also seized. The arrested suspect and the confiscated evidence have been transferred to the Trapaing Prasat District Police Inspectorate for questioning. Subsequently, the case will be handed over to the relevant department of the Oddar Meanchey Provincial Police Commissioner's Office for further legal proceedings. This incident highlights the persistent issue of drug abuse in Cambodia, prompting authorities to continue their crackdown efforts. Drug-related problems, particularly among the youth, remain a pressing social concern requiring urgent attention.
