On the afternoon of September 5, 2026, Buddhist leaders and administrative officials from Sot Nikum district in Siem Reap province, Cambodia, delivered food supplies, daily necessities, and cash to soldiers stationed at 31 locations along the Cambodia-Thailand border. This initiative aims to boost the morale and support the soldiers who are undertaking a noble mission to protect the nation's territorial integrity. Venerable Pou Teng, the senior Buddhist leader of Sot Nikum district, stated that monks, public officials, and all Buddhist followers consistently pay attention to and support the soldiers on the front lines, as they are the core force in defending national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and maintaining peace for the country. He added that while the donated items may not be of great material value, they represent sincere devotion and provide significant moral support to encourage the soldiers to continue their duties with strength. Venerable Lon Samby, another senior Buddhist leader of Sot Nikum district, remarked that this charitable activity demonstrates the strong solidarity between monks, authorities, and the people in supporting the armed forces. He offered blessings for all soldiers to enjoy good health, safety, physical strength, and success in their mission to protect the land and the Cambodian people. The donated supplies included 5,600 bottles of drinking water, 110 bottles of fish sauce and soy sauce, 112 boxes of instant noodles, 30 kilograms of prahok (fermented fish), 125 packages of dried fruits, and 30 kilograms of salt, along with many other food items. In addition, 15 million Cambodian Riel (approximately $375 USD) was presented to 557 soldiers as encouragement for their service. The total expenditure for this distribution of food and cash amounted to 29,426,000 Cambodian Riel (approximately $735.65 USD). This represents a meaningful contribution from the Sot Nikum district's Buddhist leaders, district monks, the district administration, and various philanthropists in support of the soldiers fulfilling their mission to protect the territorial integrity and peace of the nation.
