Instructed to prevent rice and paddy price hikes and hoarding. Dr. Myat Thant Nwe, Chairman of the Rice and Paddy Business Supervisory Committee and Minister of Planning, Economy and Finance of the Yangon Region Government, instructed to prevent the rise in rice and paddy prices and hoarding. This was stated by the Minister of Planning, Economy and Finance in his opening remarks at the coordination meeting of the Yangon Region Rice and Paddy Business Supervisory Committee (3/2026), held on September 9 at the meeting hall of the Yangon Region Government Office. At the meeting, the Minister instructed that businesses involved in the purchase, storage, milling, and sale of rice and paddy be carried out quickly and accurately, and that the transportation of rice, paddy, and rice products from one region to another be made easy, smooth, and convenient, so that undesirable obstacles and delays do not occur. Furthermore, it was reported that the Minister also mentioned the tasks that the Rice and Paddy Business Supervisory Committee should carry out regarding the proper flow of the domestic rice and paddy market and prices, ensuring that rice and paddy are traded at fair prices, and the registration of rice and paddy warehouses. This meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Myanmar Rice Federation, the Chairman of the Yangon Region Rice Merchants Association, the Secretary of the Yangon Region Rice Millers Association, officials, and heads of relevant departments.
