Vietnamese Coffee Exports Poised for Strong Finish Toward Year-End
Vietnamese coffee exports are showing a strong outlook heading into the year-end trading season. Shipments to the EU have increased by 9%, maintaining Vietnam's position as the world's second-largest coffee exporter. Efforts towards sustainable coffee production are also progressing.
Vietnamese coffee exports are expected to maintain their strong performance towards the year-end trading season. After nearly 200 years, and especially since the Doi Moi (renewal) policy began in 1986, Vietnamese coffee is now exported to over 100 countries and territories, supporting approximately 2.6 million jobs. Vietnam remains the world's second-largest coffee exporter, holding about 19-21% of the global market, and is the top producer of Robusta coffee. The dialogue marked the first expression of intent by the two governments to cooperate, with IDH support, in developing a sustainable, climate-resilient and deforestation-free coffee sector. Vietnam and Argentina emerged as notable exceptions in the European Commission’s (EC) latest agri-food trade report. Imports from Argentina increased 10% thanks to higher sunflower seed shipments, while imports from Vietnam climbed 9%, driven by robust coffee exports. Vietnam’s Index of Industrial Production (IIP) rose 11.9% year-on-year in the first eight months of 2026, the highest growth rate for the period in many years. The Government has issued a decree detailing the Law on Commerce and the Law on Foreign Trade Management regarding goods trading and related activities by foreign investors and foreign-invested economic organisations in Vietnam. Foreign investors carried out 1,815 capital contribution and share purchase transactions in Vietnam in the first seven months of 2026, with total capital exceeding 6.5 billion USD. While the number of transactions fell 8.4% year-on-year, their value rose 61.6%. With the current trading band of +/- 5%, the ceiling rate applicable for commercial banks during the day is 26,892 VND/USD, and the floor rate 24,330 VND/USD. Art, light and music experiences after dark can create distinctive attractions while meeting the desire of middle- and high-end visitors to explore cultural depth. Once fixed fees, payment fees, infrastructure charges and service packages are included, sellers may have to spend around 24.5-27.6% of their revenue on platforms.
