A tree-planting campaign themed 'Clean Roads, Green Nature' was held in Khor village, Tbong Khmum district, Tbong Khmum province on the morning of Thursday, July 9, 2026. The event was presided over by H.E. Mat Mara, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Rural Development and Head of the Central Working Group for Khor Village, with the participation of approximately 300 individuals, including monks, the village chief, council members, citizens, teachers, students, and local authorities. The event was not only symbolic of tree planting but also carried a profound meaning of infrastructure development, connecting 'nature' with 'road achievements' that leaders have strived to realize. During the ceremony, H.E. Mat Mara stated that roads are the arteries of the economy. Good roads mean citizens have equal opportunities to earn a living, students can travel to school easily, and agricultural product transportation becomes smoother. However, she emphasized that complete roads are not just about strength and pavement; they require green environments on both sides. She further elaborated that trees help absorb toxic gases, provide pure oxygen, and make villages livable communities. Tree roots help stabilize soil against erosion during the rainy season, while shade helps retain soil moisture and protects roads from cracking due to excessive heat. Moreover, H.E. Mat Mara stressed that behind the extensive asphalt and concrete roads in the locality lies the struggle, financial pursuit, and constant consideration of the leadership, especially the Ministry of Rural Development. She and her central working group are turning the vision of 'development for the people' into reality, ensuring not only physical infrastructure but also sustainable development. She considered the tree-planting initiative as a demonstration of love for the environment, a legacy for future generations. The construction of roads involves extensive study, planning, and hard work by leaders and officials to ensure that people in remote areas receive the best, comparable to those in urban centers. Finally, she urged the attendees that planting a tree today is equivalent to nurturing hope and life for the future. The clean roads, built through the efforts of leaders, combined with the green trees requiring care from the citizens, represent a close collaboration between the state and the people. She appealed to the residents of Khor village to help maintain road infrastructure (by not overloading vehicles or dumping soil on road shoulders) and to care for the planted saplings, aiming to transform Khor village into a model of 'developed villages with clean roads and green nature' permanently.
