Cambodia Joins Global Sustainable Transport Forum, Strengthening International Cooperation Led by China

Cambodia, responding to an invitation from China, sent a delegation led by H.E. Peng Ponea, Minister of Public Works and Transport, to the Global Sustainable Transport Forum 2026 held in Beijing on September 22, 2026. The participation was made with the high permission of the Prime Minister. The opening ceremony was presided over by H.E. Shohrat Zakir, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China. Also in attendance were H.E. Liu Wei, Minister of Transport of the People's Republic of China, ministers and vice-ministers from 28 countries, and numerous representatives from international organizations and the private sector. The forum's theme is "Sustainable Transport: Easier Passenger Transport and Smoother Freight Flow," aiming to strengthen global connectivity and promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative. This supports the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals and the UN's Decade of Sustainable Transport (2026-2035) implementation plan.
