Ho Chi Minh City Implements E-commerce Law to Foster Safe and Transparent Digital Economy

On July 24, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, in coordination with the E-commerce and Digital Economy Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Department of Culture and Sports, and relevant agencies, organized a conference to implement the E-commerce Law and related regulations under the theme "Building a Safe and Transparent E-commerce Ecosystem." The conference aimed to disseminate the key provisions of the E-commerce Law, particularly measures to enhance transparency in the digital market by mandating seller identification. This initiative seeks to strengthen consumer rights protection, prevent counterfeit goods and fraudulent activities, and establish a fair competitive environment. E-commerce in Vietnam has experienced rapid growth in recent years, becoming a significant pillar of economic development. However, this expansion has also brought forth challenges related to market transparency and consumer protection. The implementation of this law is a crucial step towards addressing these issues and fostering the sustainable and reliable development of the digital economy. During the conference, information on the E-commerce Law, as well as related decrees (Nghị định số 248/2026/NĐ-CP), was provided to ensure businesses and stakeholders accurately understand and comply with the regulations. As Vietnam's economic hub, Ho Chi Minh City plays a vital role in the development of the digital economy. The implementation of the E-commerce Law is expected to contribute to the healthy growth of the digital economy not only in the city but across Vietnam.
