Da Nang: Highland Children Celebrate Early Mid-Autumn Festival

On the evening of September 23, the "Under the Moonlight" Mid-Autumn Festival program for 2026, themed "Soldier's Moon," was organized by the Da Nang City Military Command and other units at Tay Giang Primary and Secondary Boarding School (Ahu village) in Tay Giang district, Da Nang city. The event brought early Mid-Autumn joy to children living in the highlands. The program featured children performing traditional songs and dances, and they enjoyed games and handicrafts alongside military personnel and volunteers. Many local residents also participated, sharing the atmosphere of Vietnam's traditional festival surrounded by the children's smiles. This event aims to deepen the cooperation between the Da Nang City Military Command and the local community, and to provide cultural experiences, especially for economically disadvantaged children. Under Vietnam's one-party system, such community contribution activities are often positioned as part of the government's welfare policies. The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of Vietnam's most important traditional holidays, with customs of families gathering, admiring the moon, and giving sweets and lanterns to children. In recent years, modernly designed mooncakes have gained popularity in urban areas, while traditional mooncakes also maintain a strong following. This event served as a valuable opportunity to bring the spirit of this festival to the highland region, far from urban centers.
