Ho Chi Minh City Intensifies Search for Fallen Soldiers' Remains

Under the 500-day campaign to step up the search for, collection and identification of the remains of fallen soldiers, as of September 21, the remains sampling team of the Dong Thap provincial Military Command had collected more than 8,420 samples from remains whose identities have yet to be determined. Of the total, 631 were individual sets of remains, while 33 were recovered from eight mass graves. Personal artifacts were found with 298 sets of remains. During the excavation, the team found various artifacts, including parachute cord, hammock fabric, a leather wallet and a toothbrush, along with other traces. Vietnam plans to connect its national digital identification application VNeID with the electronic identification systems of Singapore and Laos, with a view to expanding the connection to other ASEAN countries. The Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross Society and the Red Cross Society of China are expected to grow increasingly close, helping strengthen the foundation of friendship and bring the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership into a new phase of more substantive cooperation.
