Cambodia: Minister Meets Veterans and Retirees, Highlights Development and Digitalization Efforts

Mr. Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications and Honorary President of the Cambodian Veterans and Retirees Association of Takeo Province, met with approximately 1,480 veterans and retirees in Bati district, Takeo province, on September 2, 2026. During the event, the Minister conveyed greetings and regards from Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet. He expressed profound gratitude to all veterans and retirees for building and nurturing a strong foundation in all sectors and for their tireless efforts and dedication to the nation. The Minister also briefed the attendees on the country's progress across all sectors, including the construction of public infrastructure, schools, hospitals, bridges, and roads, which facilitate travel and livelihoods for citizens from all walks of life. Furthermore, he informed the audience about the achievements and progress of the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, particularly in improving the quality of telecommunication services and accelerating the adoption of digital technology. He highlighted the construction of community technology centers in high schools, which play a crucial role in promoting technology adoption within communities and expanding students' access to online education and research. Mr. Vandeth informed the veterans and retirees about the various benefits provided by the government under the wise and astute leadership of former Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen and the current Prime Minister, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet. These benefits include the provision of social land concessions, healthcare services, housing construction assistance, regular subsidies, and pensions. He also urged local authorities to pay close attention to the needs of retirees and veterans, and requested that the veterans and retirees share their knowledge and work experience with the younger generation.
