Transnational Scam Ring Targeting Japanese Victims Busted in Bangkok Mansion Raid; 15 Arrested

Royal Thai Immigration police raided a luxury European-style mansion in Bangkok early Thursday and arrested 15 members of a transnational call-center scam gang targeting Japanese victims, seizing fake Japanese police uniforms, scam related scripts, gambling equipment, and drugs. Pol. Maj. Gen. Panthana Nuchanart, deputy commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, stated that the operation was a success. The raid, which took place in a high-end residential area of the capital, targeted a sophisticated operation that had been defrauding Japanese citizens. The suspects, comprising individuals from Japan, China, and Taiwan, were apprehended at the scene. Authorities believe the group had been operating for some time, exploiting loopholes and using advanced communication technology to carry out their scams. Among the seized items were not only the fake uniforms and scripts, but also computers, mobile phones, and other electronic devices used to facilitate the fraudulent activities.
