Tropical Depression Luis Moves Northwest Over Philippine Sea; Signal No. 1 Up in Parts of Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 remains hoisted in four areas in Luzon as Tropical Depression Luis continues to move northwestward over the Philippine Sea east of Aurora province. Based on the 5 p.m. Sunday bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Luis was last spotted 285 kilometers east of Aurora province. It has a central pressure of 1004 hectopascals, maximum sustained winds of 18 meters per second, and gusts of up to 25 meters per second, moving northwestward at 16 kilometers per hour. Areas under Signal No. 1 include Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino provinces. These regions may experience strong winds brought by the tropical depression. Pagasa stated that it will continue to monitor Luis's track and provide updates as necessary. Residents in coastal areas should be wary of potential high waves, while those in low-lying areas should be alert for possible flooding and landslides.
