Young Filipinos Exhibit High Entrepreneurial Mindset in Asia-Pacific
A recent study reveals that young Filipinos are among the most entrepreneurial in the Asia-Pacific, with over 90% believing an "entrepreneurial mindset" is key to career success. This strong conviction aligns with rates seen in Indonesia and Malaysia.
Young Filipinos exhibit a remarkably high level of entrepreneurial mindset, positioning them among the strongest in the Asia-Pacific region, according to a new study. Over nine in 10 young Filipinos believe that possessing an "entrepreneurial mindset" can significantly aid them in thriving in any occupation. The Philippines recorded an impressive 94 percent agreement rate, placing it alongside countries like Indonesia and Malaysia as having some of the highest rates in the region. This finding suggests a strong inclination among Filipino youth to explore career paths beyond traditional employment, including starting their own businesses and bringing innovative ideas to fruition. From the perspective of economic diversification and the creation of new employment opportunities, this youthful entrepreneurial spirit could serve as a vital engine for the Philippines' economic growth. While overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) remain a significant pillar of the economy, expanding domestic entrepreneurial opportunities could also contribute to retaining talent within the country and improving overall income levels. External factors, such as geopolitical tensions in the South China Sea and global economic fluctuations, can impact the Philippine economy. In such uncertain times, the entrepreneurial spirit of the youth, characterized by their proactive approach to problem-solving and value creation, is crucial for enhancing economic resilience. The expansion of government and private sector support systems for startups, along with the strengthening of entrepreneurship education in academic institutions, will be key to fully harnessing this potential.
