Singaporean Woman Found Safe in Cambodia After Cutting Off Family Contact

Cambodia's Ministry of Interior has confirmed the safe recovery of a Singaporean woman who had been reported missing. Touk Sochea, deputy spokesperson for the ministry, stated that following a request for intervention from her parents, authorities from the Directorate General of Immigration and the Phnom Penh Municipal Police collaborated on a search operation. The woman was found staying in a condominium. She confirmed that she had not been subjected to human trafficking or any form of torture. She explained that the situation stemmed from personal family issues, leading her to decide to travel to Cambodia and cut off all communication with her family. She is currently safe and under the care of Cambodian specialized officials. This incident highlights concerns regarding the safety of foreigners, particularly young individuals, in Cambodia, as well as issues related to family communication. Cambodian authorities are maintaining vigilance against human trafficking and exploitation, while also demonstrating a commitment to addressing cases where individuals act on their own volition, in cooperation with relevant agencies.
