Medan Teacher Resigns After Allegedly Assaulting 10 Students

A teacher at SD Negeri 060807 Medan in North Sumatra, identified by the initials DAL, has resigned following allegations of physically assaulting 10 students for not completing their homework. The students' parents had previously reported the teacher to the Medan City Education Office (Disdik Medan). Mujiono, head of the primary education division at Disdik Medan, stated that the teacher had been temporarily removed from teaching duties and assigned other tasks since the incident. However, the teacher subsequently chose to resign, submitting a formal letter of resignation. Mujiono clarified that the resignation was voluntary and not a result of pressure from the education office. Mujiono also revealed that the Disdik Medan had organized a mediation session on Tuesday, September 1st, involving school representatives and the parents of the affected students. Despite the efforts to convene the meeting, the parents reportedly did not attend. The education office had made multiple attempts to contact the parents, including phone calls, and had also arranged for the school principal and class teachers to be present, but the parents remained absent. Nevertheless, Mujiono indicated that the parents of the students have since forgiven the teacher. He confirmed that the learning and teaching activities at SDN 060807 Medan have now normalized.
