A store in Taungoo City, 300,000 Kyats defrauded by pretending to exchange money

It has been reported that a case of fraud involving the theft of 300,000 Kyats occurred on September 10 at a store located on 6th Street in Taungoo City, Bago Region, where a woman entered the store claiming to exchange money and used a method suspected to be a form of trickery. It is understood from social media posts with CCTV footage from the Phoo Myat Thwe account that the woman first entered the store and acted as if she was observing the store's conditions, and later returned every two days to purchase goods. Furthermore, she learned that the store needed to exchange money. Subsequently, the woman visited the store again about three days later, claiming to exchange money, and entered the store. The woman's visit coincided with the store staff's lunch break, a time when the store was less crowded and had fewer staff members. It is reported that while counting the money for exchange and engaging in conversation, the store staff were momentarily bewildered, unsure of what to do or hold. Following this incident, after the woman who pretended to exchange money left, the store rechecked its cash and discovered that approximately 300,000 Kyats were missing from the exchange, according to the warning posts. It is reported that the woman who committed the fraud arrived in a motor vehicle, was carrying an iPhone, and was neatly dressed. In connection with this incident, store owners and staff in Taungoo City, especially those with limited staff, are being warned not to trust easily just because someone arrives in a car and is neatly dressed, and to exercise extreme caution when exchanging money.
