Temporary evacuation centers opened due to flooding in Bago

It has been learned from the Bago Region Government that due to continuous heavy rainfall and the subsequent rise in the Bago River, some wards in Bago city have experienced flooding since the afternoon of September 2, leading to the opening of temporary evacuation centers. Temporary evacuation centers have been opened at Mingalar Zayyon Monastery, Kalyani Thein Monastery's Dhamma Hall, Wengaba Monastery's Dhamma Hall, Lay Myat Hna Pagoda's Dhamma Hall, and Dammikarama Monastery's dining hall in Bago city. It was also stated that 126 households, comprising 494 flood victims, have been relocated to these temporary evacuation centers. Furthermore, some basic education schools in the flooded wards have been temporarily closed, according to the Township Education Office. In Bago city, an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) has been established at the Bago Region Red Cross Supervisory Committee office to enable timely response in case of flooding. It is understood that ministers from the Bago Region Government, led by the Chief Minister, along with officials from the region, district, and township levels, are collaborating to provide necessary assistance. According to measurements taken at 6:30 AM on September 3, the Bago River's water level in Bago city has exceeded the danger level by approximately 1 foot 5 inches. The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has announced that although the water level may decrease by about 6 inches within the next day, it is likely to remain above the danger level.
