Vietnam Proposes Ban on Temporary Use of Opposing Lanes for Traffic Safety

Vietnam's Traffic Police (Cục CSGT) have proposed a ban on the temporary use of opposing lanes, aiming to enhance traffic safety and correct driver behavior. The proposal primarily focuses on improving traffic organization. Colonel Nguyễn Quang Nhật explained that the main objective of this proposal is to improve traffic organization and, through it, adjust driver behavior. While current regulations may permit the temporary use of opposing lanes under specific circumstances, the proposal seeks to prohibit it entirely to achieve a safer and more orderly traffic environment. This initiative is seen as part of broader efforts to reduce the increasing number of traffic accidents in Vietnam. Under its one-party system, Vietnam aims to balance social order with economic development, making traffic safety a crucial issue directly impacting citizens' lives.
