Stare turns to gunfire in Jomtien, Pattaya man’s car damaged

A minor confrontation over a perceived stare escalated into gunfire in Jomtien, Pattaya, early Friday morning, resulting in a man’s car being damaged by bullets but no injuries reported. Police from the Dongtan Curve branch of Pattaya City Police Station were notified around 7:00 a.m. on July 10 that a vehicle had been shot near Soi 5 on Jomtien Second Road. Officers arrived at the scene and found Thawatchai “Boy” Konklang, 35, waiting beside his white Honda City. He showed police a bullet impact mark on the driver’s side door. Thawatchai told police he lives in Jomtien Soi 3 and had previously had a disagreement with a neighbor known only by the nickname “Oh.” According to his account, the dispute began when he was reversing his vehicle out of his home and noticed the other man looking at him. He asked why he was staring, leading to a brief argument. Thawatchai said he then drove away from his house, but a person working for the neighbor allegedly followed him and opened fire at his vehicle. He told police that the same person had allegedly attempted to threaten him with a gun earlier outside his home, an incident reportedly captured on CCTV, although the weapon did not fire at that time. Following the shooting, police collected evidence from the scene, including two .380-calibre bullet casings, and documented the damage to the vehicle. The victim was later advised to file a formal complaint as police continue investigating and identifying those responsible.
