Vietnam Prioritizes Energy Security Amidst Geopolitical Risks and Energy Transition

Vietnam is facing significant pressure on its oil and gas industry's production and business activities due to the complex global economy, volatile energy markets, geopolitical conflicts, and the demands of the energy transition in a new era. In this context, ensuring national energy security has emerged as an urgent priority. A forum organized by Vietnam's Communist Party newspaper 'Nhan Dan' discussed the theme "Energy Security - A Pillar of National Security Amidst Non-Traditional Security Risks." This discussion emphasized that energy security is an indispensable foundation for the nation's sustainable development. Ensuring energy security is positioned as an issue directly linked to improving the quality of life for the people. Oil and gas companies are called upon to contribute to stabilizing the nation's energy supply by maintaining and strengthening production capacity, fostering technological innovation, and enhancing supply chain resilience to address these challenges. Furthermore, building industrial value chains for future national energy security is a key point of discussion. This aims to establish an independent energy supply system that leverages domestic resources while being less susceptible to fluctuations in international energy markets. The Vietnamese government views energy security as a crucial pillar of national development and intends to strengthen related policies.
