Even after the coup and transitioning into a provisional government through the sham 2025 elections, the military junta has expressed its grievances, stating that the United Nations continues to ignore and be biased against them without offering support or recognition. The junta's provisional government stated this in an editorial published in their propaganda newspaper today, in response to an informal briefing provided by the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative on Myanmar to UN member states regarding the situation in Myanmar. "Despite receiving support and recognition from friendly countries for the progress in Myanmar, it is observed that some UN officials continue to ignore and maintain biased actions," the editorial stated. The briefing, held on June 19, reportedly included points such as Myanmar being a global hub for cybercrime, being the sixth country in the world suffering from the most severe hunger, and having high numbers of terrorist acts and internally displaced persons. The provisional government denied these claims, stating that they are baseless and biased accusations based on inaccurate information and unverified statistics about Myanmar, portraying it as a very bad country. Despite these denials, the junta continues to commit acts of terrorism and is engaging with and cooperating with some supporting countries to evade sanctions and restrictions imposed by countries worldwide, including the UN, the European Union, ASEAN, and the United States. Furthermore, the military junta, which seized power in a coup, is falsely claiming that due to the provisional government and provisional parliament it has created, Myanmar's political progress is back on the path of democracy, and legislative and administrative mechanisms have begun to operate. Currently, the provisional government is accusing ASEAN and other countries worldwide that do not support or recognize it, urging the United Nations to not forget its original objectives and fundamental principles when carrying out its duties, and to respect sovereignty and equality.
