Vietnam's Central Region Braces for Heavy Rainfall, Flood and Landslide Risks Escalate

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue in many areas across Vietnam from the night of September 24th to the 25th. Notably, areas from Quang Tri to Da Nang and eastern Quang Ngai are forecast to receive very heavy rainfall, with localized downpours potentially exceeding 250mm. The Central Highlands and Southern regions are also expected to see some areas with very heavy rainfall exceeding 100mm. Meteorological authorities are urging strict vigilance against tornadoes, lightning, flash floods, landslides, and associated inundation risks in these regions. Vietnam has been experiencing increasingly frequent extreme weather events, attributed to the impacts of climate change, with heavy rainfall during the rainy season being a persistent concern.
