Thanh Hoa Police Aid Residents Amidst Heavy Rains and Landslides

In Thanh Hoa province, north-central Vietnam, prolonged heavy rainfall has saturated the ground, leading to a major landslide on National Highway 15C at Km10+100 in Nam Xuan commune on the afternoon of September 16. The landslide has cut off the road, severely hindering local residents' movement. Around 1:30 PM on the same day, Lo Van Cuong (born 1998), a resident of Hien Kiet commune, experienced severe kidney pain requiring emergency medical attention. However, due to the landslide, his family was unable to transport him to a medical facility. Upon learning of the situation, the Nam Xuan Commune Police immediately deployed forces, assisted Cuong in crossing the landslide-affected area, and then quickly transported him to Quan Hoa General Hospital using a police vehicle for initial treatment. Subsequently, Cuong was directed to transfer to Ngoc Lac Regional General Hospital for further examination and treatment. Around 3:30 PM the same day, Loc Thi Thuong (born 1998), also from Hien Kiet commune, went into labor and required assistance to reach a medical facility. The Nam Xuan Commune Police again mobilized vehicles and officers to reach the stranded pregnant woman, helping her navigate the blocked traffic area before swiftly transporting her to Quan Hoa General Hospital by police car for medical care. During this period of prolonged rain and flooding, numerous landslides and waterlogged sections have emerged on various transportation routes. Thanh Hoa Provincial Police have mobilized 450 officers from the provincial force, 2,530 officers from commune police stations, and 1,516 grassroots security personnel to remain on duty along affected routes, assisting residents in responding to and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.
