Cambodia Announces Incentives for High School Exam Achievers, Boosting Support for Rural Students

In Kampong Thom province, Cambodia, additional incentives have been announced for high school graduation exam (Bak Doep) candidates, particularly those who achieve excellent results. This initiative aims to strengthen financial support for rural examinees and boost their motivation to study. Chan Yutha, head of the working group for Prayay and Popok communes in Stung Treng district, met with 12th-grade students and their guardians at Prayay Sim High School in Prayay commune, Stung Treng district, to offer encouragement. He officially announced additional rewards for students who strive to study diligently and achieve excellent grades in the upcoming high school graduation examination, scheduled for March 10, 2026. Mr. Chan Yutha expressed his firm belief that this timely attention and support will serve as a significant source of motivation for the students at Prayay Sim High School, urging them to approach the examination for the high school diploma with confidence and a determined spirit, under the slogan "Learning leads to passing." Furthermore, during this motivational meeting, Mr. Chan Yutha provided financial assistance totaling 60,000 Riel (approximately $20 USD) per person to 117 students who will be traveling to Stung Sen city for their exams, intended to cover travel, accommodation, and food expenses. Among these, 21 students from impoverished backgrounds received an additional 60,000 Riel each, aiming to alleviate the economic burden on their guardians, especially for those with limited financial means. This initiative is part of the Cambodian government's broader efforts to promote educational equity in rural areas and improve overall educational standards through incentives for high-achieving students.
