Ho Chi Minh Exhibition Held in Laos, Singapore - Emphasizing Solidarity with Vietnam

A series of events honoring the late President Ho Chi Minh and celebrating Vietnam's 81st National Day have been held in Laos and Singapore. In Laos, an exhibition titled “Ho Chi Minh – Portrait of a Man” took place in the capital Vientiane from August 27-31, attracting numerous Lao officials, the Vietnamese community, and international friends. The exhibition featured 50 paintings created by overseas Vietnamese artist Dao Trong Ly between 2018 and 2024. Co-hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, the Vietnam Cultural Centre in Laos, and the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, the event served as a cultural highlight symbolizing the "special solidarity" between Vietnam and Laos. Lao Minister of Culture and Tourism Suonsavan Vinhaket praised the ideological depth of the works, stating they depict President Ho Chi Minh’s arduous struggle for the liberation of Vietnam and oppressed peoples across the Indochinese Peninsula. In Singapore, on September 2, officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representative agencies paid floral tributes to President Ho Chi Minh's statue at the Asian Civilisations Museum. Earlier, many Vietnamese living in Singapore offered 81 lotus flowers to commemorate 81 years of independence, honoring his contributions to the Party and nation. The embassy also held a ceremony on August 24. These events coincided with reports from Pasaxon, the official newspaper of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee, hailing the success of the 16th National Assembly’s first extraordinary session as offering important lessons for Laos. Meanwhile, domestic news also covered emergency flood relief operations in Oudomxay Province and the impact of severe flooding in Khammouane Province.
