Vietnam Railways Supports Return of Fallen Heroes to Homeland with Free Transport

Vietnam Railways (Đường sắt Việt Nam) has been collaborating closely with the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Fallen Soldiers (Hội Hỗ trợ gia đình liệt sĩ Việt Nam) for many years to implement a program offering free transport for the remains of fallen soldiers and free train tickets for accompanying relatives. This initiative aims to facilitate the dignified return of fallen heroes, referred to as "Anh hùng liệt sĩ," to their hometowns, providing support and solace to their grieving families. In recent years, particularly around Vietnam's War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (Ngày Thương binh-Liệt sĩ) on July 27th, various regions have reported activities honoring fallen soldiers and supporting efforts to locate and repatriate their remains. Examples include the Border Guards of Đắk Lắk Province (Bộ đội Biên phòng Đắk Lắk), memorial activities within Laos, tributes by the 4th Military Region (Bộ Tư lệnh Quân khu 4) in Quảng Trị, and support for remains recovery units by the 7th Military Region (Quân khu 7). Respect and commemoration for fallen soldiers are a significant aspect of Vietnam's national identity, reflecting gratitude towards past generations who contributed to the country's development and serving as a symbol of national unity. In Vietnam's one-party system, the inheritance of national historical memory and the cultivation of patriotism are considered crucial elements for social stability and development.
