Vietnam Welcomes First Cold Spell: Northern Regions Experience Cooler Temperatures, South Remains Hot

Vietnam experienced its first cold spell of the year on September 9, marking a significant shift in weather patterns across the country. According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the cold air mass began affecting the northern mountainous regions on the night of September 9 and is expected to spread to other parts of the Northeast, some areas in the Northwest, and the North Central region. On land, the wind direction will shift to the northeast, blowing at speeds of 2-3, and up to 3 on coastal areas. As a result, Northeast and North Central regions are expected to experience cooler weather from the night of September 9. The lowest temperatures during this cold spell in these areas are predicted to range from 21-24 degrees Celsius, with some locations in the northern mountains potentially dropping below 19 degrees Celsius. Due to the influence of the cold air, rain is forecast to begin from the evening, with heavy rain possible in some places. In Hanoi, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected, with some areas experiencing heavy rainfall. The forecast indicates a high of 33-35 degrees Celsius and a low of 25-27 degrees Celsius. In contrast, the Central region of Vietnam is experiencing stable weather as of September 9. However, from September 10 onwards, affected by the cold air, moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms are anticipated in areas from Thanh Hoa to Hue, and in the Central Highlands. Heavy rainfall in the Central region is likely to persist and become complex in the coming days. Southern regions will see cloudy skies with occasional showers and thunderstorms, and some areas may experience heavy rain in the evening. Ho Chi Minh City is also forecast to have similar weather conditions, with temperatures ranging from 31-33 degrees Celsius for the high and 25-27 degrees Celsius for the low.
