Villagers Unite to Clear Debris, Safeguarding Wooden Bridge from Flood Damage

In Ou Run village, Ou Svay San Chey district, Stung Treng province, residents have demonstrated strong solidarity and a high sense of responsibility by collectively clearing a substantial accumulation of logs and debris that had washed downstream and lodged at the base of a wooden bridge. This action aims to prevent damage or collapse of the bridge. According to villagers from Ou Run, heavy seasonal rains and flooding had brought a large volume of wood, branches, and natural debris to the bridge's foundation, obstructing water flow and exerting significant pressure on the structure. Deeply concerned about the safety of the road and the potential severance of land transport links within the village and commune, residents mobilized to cut and remove the debris. The effort involved not only manual labor with personal axes and saws but also the use of tractors to help pull large logs from the flowing water. The spirit of "self-help and community organization" among the residents of Ou Run village clearly highlights their collective consciousness in preserving public property. The successful removal of debris from the bridge's base has not only improved water flow and reduced the risk of the bridge collapsing but also serves as an exemplary model of community strength in confronting natural phenomena and safeguarding common interests in a timely manner.
