Indonesia Assures Full Readiness for 2026 Asian Games

The Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) has guaranteed the readiness of the Indonesian contingent to face the 2026 Asian Games multi-branch sports festival, which will take place in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan. As part of the preparations, NOC Chairman King Sapta Oktohari, along with the Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian contingent, Todotua Pasaribu, conducted a series of working visits to Japan to ensure that everything proceeds without obstacles. "Preparation for a contingent is not only about the readiness of athletes in the competition arena, but also how we ensure that all support systems work well," Okto stated in a received statement. This working visit is part of NOC Indonesia's commitment to ensure that all aspects supporting the contingent—ranging from institutional coordination, readiness of the competition venue, athlete accommodation, logistics systems, to health services—are optimally prepared before the team's departure. On the first day of the visit, Okto, Todotua, and the Indonesian delegation held an audience with the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Tokyo to strengthen synergy in supporting the contingent's needs during their stay in Japan. The meeting discussed diplomatic support, cross-agency coordination, and various service aspects that will support Indonesia's smooth participation in the quadrennial sports festival of Asian countries. "We want the athletes to come calmly, confidently, and be able to fully focus on achieving the best achievements for Indonesia," said Okto. Okto added that close collaboration between the Indonesian NOC, the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, AINAGOC, and the CdM, as well as all partners in Japan, will be key to providing the best service for the Indonesian team. He stated that careful preparation would yield satisfactory achievements, and thus his party is committed to ensuring that no non-technical aspects interfere with the athletes' struggle. "Our goal is simple, namely to provide the best environment so that every Indonesian athlete has the maximum opportunity to perform optimally," he said. During the visit, the Indonesian delegation also reviewed the readiness of the event and conducted direct inspections of a number of facilities that will be used by the Indonesian team. Some of the locations visited include the JRA Equestrian Park in Tokyo (venue for equestrian sports), Nagoya Kyoritsu Hospital (referral hospital for athletes), a recovery center facility equipped with saunas and jacuzzis to support athletes' recovery process, and a number of alternative athlete villages and contingent accommodations. In addition, the Indonesian delegation also discussed logistics, transportation, medical support, and various other operational aspects to ensure that all contingent needs can be met without obstacles. Todotua emphasized that this initial visit is an important foundation in preparing all the contingent's needs in detail so that Indonesian athletes can compete with full focus. "We have directly reviewed the readiness of several match venues, ensured the eligibility of the athletes' village, and discussed the logistics flow and medical support on the field. We try to prepare everything as detailed as possible," he said. The 2026 Asian Games are scheduled to take place from September 19 to October 4. Approximately 46 countries are expected to participate in the prestigious sports festival.
