Vietnam Closes 23km Highway Section for ITS Installation

The closure will affect approximately 23 kilometers, from the Chi Thanh interchange to Nguyen Huu Tho. The period is from 8 AM on July 7 to 8 AM on July 9. During this time, northbound and southbound vehicles will need to exit the expressway at the Chi Thanh interchange, travel along National Highway 1, and then rejoin the expressway at the Nguyen Huu Tho interchange. Similar arrangements will be made for the opposite direction. This work is part of the effort to implement ITS on the expressway. ITS utilizes sensor, control, electronic, computer, and telecommunications technologies to manage and operate traffic on expressways. The aim is to enhance traffic flow, improve safety, and reduce accidents in the future. The Chi Thanh - Van Phong expressway spans a total of 48 kilometers with an investment exceeding VND 11 trillion (over $650 million USD). It is a segment of the Eastern North-South Expressway.
