Three Foreigners Arrested in Major Cross-Border Drug Bust at Cambodian Airport

Three foreign nationals have been arrested at Techo International Airport in Cambodia on suspicion of involvement in a large-scale drug trafficking operation. The joint operation, conducted by the General Department of Customs and Excise and the Immigration Police on September 9, took place at the departure terminal. According to authorities, the suspects were apprehended as they were preparing to depart from Cambodia. A thorough inspection revealed 146 bundles of dried plants suspected to be marijuana, with a total net weight of approximately 73 kg, and a white powdery substance suspected to be heroin, weighing approximately 6.2 kg. The total weight of the seized illicit substances is approximately 79.2 kg, making this one of the largest drug busts of its kind in the country. The evidence has been confiscated and secured for further legal proceedings. Following initial procedures and the preparation of reports related to customs law violations, the three suspects, along with the confiscated items and related materials, were handed over to the Anti-Drug Department for further investigation and legal action. This bust is considered a significant case in combating cross-border drug smuggling through Cambodia, and authorities are maintaining heightened vigilance.
