Cambodia Announces Scholarship Program for Study in Laos for 2026-27 Academic Year

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of Cambodia has announced a scholarship program for undergraduate studies in the Lao People's Democratic Republic. This initiative is part of the cooperation agreement on education between Cambodia and Laos for the period 2019-2023, signed on December 5, 2018. For the 2026-27 academic year, fifteen students will have the opportunity to pursue their studies in Laos. According to the announcement from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, the available fields of study include environmental science, economics, commerce, information technology, architecture, forest management, water resources management and meteorology, and hotel and tourism management. To be eligible as a candidate, applicants must be Cambodian citizens, hold a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification, be no older than 35 years of age as of October 2026, and be in excellent physical and mental health. Applications will be accepted from the date of this announcement until 4:00 PM on September 14, 2026, at the Office of Bilateral and Multilateral Cooperation, Department of International Cooperation and ASEAN Affairs, located at Building No. 23, Street 360, Sangkat Boeung Keng Kang I, Khan Boeung Keng Kang, Phnom Penh. The entrance examination is scheduled for September 20, 2026. The examination venues will be announced later. The exam will consist of two subjects: General Knowledge, lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes, and Mathematics, also lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes. This scholarship program aims to foster people-to-people exchanges between the two countries and enhance cooperation in higher education within the ASEAN region. Cambodia seeks to develop specialized human resources and promote regional economic development through educational partnerships with neighboring countries.
