Vietnam Diversifies Foreign Relations, Strengthens Cooperation Through High-Level Diplomacy

Vietnam is accelerating efforts to deepen parliamentary cooperation with key countries including Russia, South Korea, Mongolia, and France. This is evident through a series of high-level diplomatic engagements, such as the visit of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam to Russia, and National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man's visit to South Korea. During his visit to Russia, General Secretary and President To Lam met with a delegation from the Russian War Veterans Association and the Russia–Vietnam Friendship Association, expressing Vietnam's desire to further enhance cooperation in culture, arts, and cinema. He also held talks with Gennady Zyuganov, Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF), reaffirming the importance of bilateral relations. Meanwhile, National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man met with South Korean Prime Minister Han Seong Sook and National Assembly Speaker Cho Jeong-sik, agreeing to deepen their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with a focus on economic ties, science and technology, parliamentary cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges. Economic relations between Vietnam and South Korea are rapidly developing, with increasing interconnectedness in supply chains, including expanded investments in semiconductors, AI, and green energy. Furthermore, National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man is scheduled to visit Mongolia, signaling expectations for strengthened parliamentary cooperation between the two nations. His upcoming official visit to France, which includes attending the International Space Summit, suggests Vietnam's growing engagement in the space sector. Domestically, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung attended the Vietnam–Japan Local Cooperation Forum, calling on Japan to transform their investment relations from a conventional investor-host model to a partnership focused on joint development, innovation, and enhancing positions in global value chains. This indicates Vietnam's pursuit of higher technology and added value to sustain its economic growth. These diplomatic activities highlight Vietnam's strategic approach to diversifying its partnerships and enhancing its international standing while pursuing economic growth.
