Cambodia Intensifies Efforts Against Human Trafficking with Public Awareness Forums
A public awareness forum on human trafficking, online sexual exploitation, and the risks of dangerous migration was held in Cambodia's Kandal province. In Kandal province, Cambodia, the Provincial Committee for Combating Human Trafficking organized awareness forums in Koh Thom district and Sampov Pun town. The Deputy Governor also provided key recommendations to the authorities of Koh Thom district and Sampov Pun town, urging them to continue prioritizing security and order. She stressed the importance of ongoing dissemination of these laws to every household and school to ensure the safety and well-being of children and residents in the respective areas, aligning with the government's "Safe Village-Commune-District Policy." Furthermore, the forum featured detailed presentations by specialized officials from relevant ministries and police forces on various tactics and forms of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Topics covered included measures to protect children and youth from seduction and abuse via social media platforms like Facebook, TikTok, and Telegram; the consequences and dangers of dangerous migration; and emergency hotline numbers for reporting and seeking intervention from competent authorities. The primary objective of these awareness forums is to enhance the understanding of local officials, youth, and citizens regarding the dangers of human trafficking, methods of self-protection against exploitation and online abuse of children, and the high risks associated with illegal and dangerous migration.
